If you are not familiar with the term "good ground" it is used in a story told by Jesus found in the book of Matthew, Mark and Luke. In this parable Jesus discusess the importance of being good ground in order to receive the promise God has made to those who hear God's word. The story explains that there are four types of ground but we all need to be "good ground" in order to receive.

Before we tackle understanding this parable, I believe it's important that we understand this is the most important parable. This is not an opinion based off an assumption, but Jesus made an interesting statement in the scriptures regarding this parable. When the disciples were alone with Jesus they asked him the meaning of this parable. Jesus responded:

Mark 4:13 (KJV) And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

Understanding this parable is key to understanding all the other parables. For that reason it is the most important parable.

Whenever I have heard this parable taught, everyone I know left the service considering themselves to be good ground. But this opinion is generally based off a self assessment that doesn't include any of the characteristics listed in the scriptures required to be good ground.

As I began to teach on this parable I saw something I had never seen before! No one is good ground. The type of ground you are isn't a permanent quality but it is in fact a variable. It actually varies from word to word. Which means with every word spoken by God we have the potential to be one of the four grounds. With this understanding, this parable takes on a whole different meaning and level of importance.

Listen to the good ground series today. This series will equip you and position you to receive all that the Lord has for you.
